Lake Nona Medical City Master Infrastucture

GEC has served the City of Orlando for the past 5 years providing construction materials testing services for Lake Nona’s Medical City master infrastructure including key roadway, stormwater and utilities projects. Current GEC activity includes master infrastructure for the new planned Lake Nona housing subdivision, Laureate Park.

City of Orlando Creative Village

GEC is the Geotechnical Engineer for the Creative Village design and development team, Creative Village Orlando, LLC.  The planned 68-acre community on the site of the former Orlando Arena will be the largest re- development project in the history of Downtown Orlando.

Creative Village will be centered on the theme of cutting edge technology, beginning with advanced technology educational institutions in concert with the University of Central Florida and Valencia State College.  In addition to educational facilities, the planned new technology hub will be home to residential neighborhoods, office, retail and public spaces created to lure knowledge workers and their families to live and work in a new creative environment.

GEC Downtown Orlando Development Experience

GEC project knowledge within the City of Orlando is extensive and spans 21 years of project experience.  GEC has earned the reputation for providing the project team with cost-saving solutions to complex site challenges and conditions.  GEC core services include geotechnical engineering for design and construction of deep foundations as well as environmental consulting in areas of potential chemical contamination.  GEC utilizes ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey for pavement and structural evaluation in addition to its standard construction materials testing services.

LYNX Central Station

LYNX Parramore Bus Rapid Transit Design-Build

The Parramore Fixed Guideway Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) expansion project represents a 2.1-mile extension of the current Orlando LYMMO BRT system through the historic Parramore and Callahan neighborhoods and the proposed Creative Village redevelopment site.  Parramore BRT will connect key destinations west of I-4 with the urban core and the Central Florida region via LYNX Central Staton and future SunRail commuter rail service.  The project reconfigures the current northwest LYMMO from LYNX Central Station (LCS) as shown on the map below.

The Design/Build project team is led by ZMG Construction with participation by Creative Village Development, LLC, Cardno TBE and Baker Barrios Architects.  GEC is providing the geotechnical engineering for the project.

The budget for the Design-Build Project is $12,500,000.  The schedule includes a construction start date of August 2012, completion of construction by March 2013, and a revenue operation date of April 2013.


Bellalago Residential Community

GEC provided geotechnical engineering and contamination assessment services. Bellalago represents over 600 acres of internal lakes and waterways, parks and playgrounds along 1.2 miles of shoreline on Lake Tohopekaliga.
Voted "Best Community for the Metro Orlando area" by the 2004 Parade of Homes.
